13" Retina MacBook Pro (2.8GHz dual-core i7)... decent for VMware ...

I'm considering either a 13" MacBook Pro (2.8GHz dual-core i7/16GB RAM) or a 15" MacBook Pro (2.6GHz quad-core i7/16GB RAM) and I'm wondering if I'd be able to get decent VMware Fusion performance on a dual-core system.

This wouldn't be for heavy use (like simulating full VMware View setups) but running a single-vCPU FreeBSD or Linux VM with OS X for developing applications.
